Cleared for Takeoff
Privacy Policy
Effective October 13, 2026
The short version: you don't need an account, we don't sell anything about you, and the answers you type are used only to give you interview feedback.
Cleared for Takeoff is an airline interview practice app run by Susan Templin in Phoenix, Arizona ("we," "us"). This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Your practice answers. When you ask for AI feedback, the answer you typed and the question and job role you picked are sent to our server so the feedback can be written.
- Your IP address. Our server uses it to count how many feedback sessions each person uses per day, so the free service stays fair and affordable. This count is used only for that limit.
- Question counts. The app counts how many times each practice question is shown, answered, or skipped, so we can improve the question list. These are overall totals only. They don't include your answers, your IP address, or anything else that could identify you.
- Information saved on your device. If the app saves your progress or stories, they stay on your device (in the Cleared for Takeoff app, or in your browser if you use the website). We can't see them, and uninstalling the app or clearing your browser data removes them.
- Voice input. If you use the Tap to talk button, your phone or browser's built-in speech service turns what you say into text. Depending on your device, that service may be run by Google or Apple under their own privacy policies. The app only receives the text, never a recording, and we don't store audio.
- Story backups. If you send yourself your stories or save a backup file, that copy goes only where you send or save it. We never receive it.
- Practice reminders. If you turn on reminders in the app, they're scheduled on your phone by your phone. Your reminder time and interview date stay on your device and are never sent to us.
We don't ask for your name, email, phone number, or location, and we don't use advertising trackers or sell or share your information for advertising.
If you send us feedback. The Send feedback option in the app's Flight Deck menu opens your own email app. If you choose to send it, we receive your message and your email address. We use them only to read your feedback, reply to you, and improve the app, and we don't share them.
How your answers are processed
Feedback is written by an AI model from Anthropic. Your answer passes through our server, hosted by Cloudflare, to Anthropic's API and back to you. Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms, which don't allow it to use your answers to train its models. You can read Anthropic's privacy policy and Cloudflare's privacy policy.
We don't keep a copy of your answers. They're used to write your feedback and then discarded by our server.
Please don't share sensitive details
Practice answers work best with real stories, but leave out things like full names of coworkers or passengers, contact details, or anything confidential from your employer.
How long we keep information
Daily usage counts are kept only as long as needed to apply the daily limit. Question counts are kept as overall totals for improving the app. Our hosting providers may keep standard technical logs for a short time for security and reliability.
Children
Cleared for Takeoff is meant for adults preparing for airline jobs. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Purchases
If paid features are offered in the app, payments are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your card details.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy, such as adding accounts, we'll update this page and change the effective date above.
